Rachel Branscombe

Hi, I’m Rachel! My design practice spans editorial, branding, UX/UI and more, with a working style that balances bold visual expression with rigorous technical craft. I’m drawn to design that solves real problems and uses visual storytelling, especially in print. I love the process of crafting physical deliverables, which has only improved over my three years at the University of Reading, and I would love to explore this further in my career.

REVERB

Editorial

REVERB is an independent monthly magazine covering R&B music across three issues: Roots, Transition, and Now. Issue 03, Now, focuses on the artists and sounds defining contemporary R&B, pairing an editorial approach with bold, expressive design. The main feature is focused around Brent Faiyaz, as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary R&B, and highlights other significant artists such as SZA, Summer Walker, FLO, etc. This magazine is perfect bound, with soft-touch laminated covers.

Blue Weekend by Wolf Alice

Packaging

Re-packaging: Blue Weekend by Wolf Alice (2021). The album’s visual identity is carried across three physical formats: a vinyl LP, a CD and a limited edition collectible matchbox (with lyric reveal and merch QR code inside). The concept draws on the album’s emotional tension, visualised through x-ray botanical imagery, gradient background and hand-written type. The matchbox steps outside of conventional music packaging, and was chosen because I felt it was the right metaphor for an album about lingering moments: it is a small, tactile collectible, designed to be kept on a shelf rather than filed away.
